Dekalb Poetry Guild Seeking Submissions for First Chapbook

The Dekalb Poetry Guild meets the second Saturday of every month at the Dekalb Public Library.

We are working on a chapbook to publish featuring DeKalb’s best local poetry.

If you want a poem published in the chapbook, please send a small bio, a picture of yourself and the poem to BlossomingAsBeth@gmail.com

Publication is expected by 2025. All profits will be donated to the Dekalb Public Library.

Open mic poetry

Our next meeting

Do you love poetry? Are you a poet in your off time? Meet with the like-minded folks of the DeKalb Poetry Guild. Get to know the members and learn about the organization.

Please bring a poem to share. It does not need to be one you wrote.

This program is intended for teens and adults. No registration is required.

For more information, contact Britta at brittak@dkpl.org or (815) 756-9568 ext. 2100.

Possible Snow Cancelation

Dekalb Poetry Guild open reading tomorrow at DeKalb Public Library is most likely not happening.
The library closed today due to weather and the storm just started. More snow expected tonight and tomorrow morning as well as all day today.
This page will update if anything changes.

Dekalb’s Blessings

I am blessed to call this town my home
Through corn and barbed wire
The lagoon I so admire
I am blessed that I am not alone

Huskie spirit runs deep and strong,
In pride’s embrace, we all belong.
From Ellwood House to art that’s shown,
DeKalb’s warm embrace, our passion’s shown.

Rocky Horror at the Egyptian
Before and after my transition
Community dinners on a monthly basis
Makes Dekalb feel like my Oasis

In DeKalb, where friendships bloom like flowers,
Amidst the farms and quiet hours.
From friendly faces to wide-open spaces,
This town, my sanctuary, endless graces.
